The Teleride transportation system is a door to door transportation service available to eligible disabled persons in Chatham County.

Teleride serves eligible disabled persons in Chatham County.A picture of the Teleride van. This includes persons who are unable, due to a permanent or temporary physical or mental disability, to use the fixed-route public transportation system.

Teleride serves passengers in a safe and effective manner. State-of-the-art wheelchair lifts make boarding the vehicle safe and convenient. Each Teleride lift-equipped van accommodates three wheelchair passengers or up to 10 seated passengers. These vans feature a six-point tie down system which holds the passenger and wheelchair securely in place. The team of trained operators assists passengers on and off the Teleride van. Service is provided from door to door. Assistance is not provided beyond the origin or destination door.



ELIGIBILITY: An Easy Process

Potential Teleride passengers must complete an ADA paratransit eligibility application. Forms may be obtained from Teleride or you can
download the application form.
Forms must be returned to Teleride. After materials have been received, an applicant will be notified by mail about eligibility or denial.



GUIDELINES: To Obtain Teleride Transportation Service

  1. Call the Teleride Reservation Line (354-6900) from a minimum of 24 hours up to a maximum of two weeks in advance of your intended trip.
  2. Make all reservations between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 8:00 a.m. until noon Saturday and Sunday. Trip changes or cancellations may be made up to one hour before pickup time.
  3. Teleride's dispatcher will make every effort to incorporate a requested change in your schedule. However, pickup times cannot be precisely guaranteed.
  4. When making a trip reservation, please provide the following information:
    • Your name, address and telephone number
    • Number of persons making the trip
    • Time of appointment and return
    • Date
    • Destination



OPERATING HOURS

  • Monday -Saturday: 6 a.m. to midnight
  • Sunday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Service available every day of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.



TELERIDE FARES
  • Passenger (one-way fare)                          $1.20
  • Personal Care Attendant (one-way fare)      No Charge
  • Accompanying Individual (one-way fare)      $1.20
  • Teleride Cash Advance Tickets (10)            $12.00
  • Available at CAT offices located at 900 East Gwinnett Street, and at CAT Central, 124 Bull Street.
