David Flanders, director of maintenance for Chatham Area Transit, dips his hand in a container of biodiesel fuel made from soy beans. The fuel has the consistentcy and smell of vegetable oil. Flanders will soon fuel CAT's buses with a ten per cent mixture of biodiesel and conventional diesel in the hope of improving mileage and reducing pollution.
