CAT Accepting Applications for Advisory Committees

Are you interested in having an impact on public transportation in our community? Then CAT needs you. Chatham Area Transit Authority is seeking eligible applicants to serve on the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) or the Transit Advisory Committee (TAC).

The Business Advisory Committee and the Transit Advisory Committee were established by the CAT Board of Directors to represent a broad spectrum of transportation and community concerns and interests. The committees will serve in an advisory capacity to help CAT improve transit services and programs by advising CAT Board of Directors and the Board’s Planning Committees.

Ideally, the BAC and TAC will each be made up of (7) committee members (2-year term), including a youth position for ages 15-19 (1-year term). Candidates should be able to attend at least 4 meetings a year at the Joe Murray Rivers, Jr. Intermodal Transit Center at 610 W. Oglethorpe Ave. Committee members will be selected to achieve diversity and geographical representation and represent a broad spectrum of transit advocates including: seniors, people with disabilities, college students, local businesses and employers, social service agency representatives, neighborhood association, the medical community, environmentalist and bicyclists. Applications are due by September 12. 2014.
