Agency will no longer accept external advertising.
Savannah, GA—Today, the Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) board approved a recommendation to ban all commercial ads on buses, shelters and CAT facilities.
This action is consistent with a number of more user-friendly and cost-effective transit solutions the transit agency has been working on in anticipation of the arrival of new transit vehicles beginning this spring and summer.
With the suspension of the bus advertising and the impending arrival of more than 40 new fixed-route buses and paratransit vans as well as a future delivery of electric buses, CAT is re-establishing its commitment to cohesive branding.
“We are hoping by focusing on our CAT brand and refreshing it, we will clearly establish a recognizable identity and renewed pride among customers, employees, and the community,” Curtis Koleber, CAT’s CEO said. “I applaud our board for taking this progressive action.”
The new CAT policy will permit non-profit organizations to place interior bus advertisements on the buses as long as they meet certain requirements.
