Moving to the Next Level of Service

Chatham Area Transit (CAT) is pleased to announce the purchase of four 27-foot buses specifically designed to meet the needs of routes with low ridership. These vehicles comfortably seat two wheelchairs and 14 additional passengers, and we have lovingly named them the CAT CUB.

The purchase of these buses underlines our commitment to Chatham County and to the environment. We have communities with low ridership that require us to tailor our service to their needs in order to maximize service across the entire system. Fewer passengers can be transported on smaller vehicles, and using smaller vehicles conserves resources.

Initially, one of these buses will be used on the Route 13 Coffee Bluff which serves portions of the White Bluff, Windsor Forest, Greenbriar, and Coffee Bluff communities. Another will be found on the Route 20 Montgomery/Skidaway Island, which serves portions of the Whitefield, Isle of Hope, and Skidaway Island communities. So for those of you in those areas, you may soon Catch a CAT…CUB!

CAT CUB buses made their debut during the St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
