New schedules to the Transit Center went into effect on October 7th, and we have been receiving some very helpful feedback since then. Most of the comments have gone into planning and analysis for the next service change, however, one issue we investigated warrants more immediate attention. We feel that scheduling on the Route 14 Abercorn is critical to the community’s success, so we have been working on solutions we can put into place now.
To begin with, we will provide additional buses on the route starting on Monday, November 18th. New Monday-Saturday trips will leave the Transit Center at 1:45 PM and 4:15 PM, and trips will leave the Savannah Mall at 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM. New Sunday and Holiday Schedule trips will leave the Transit Center at 1:45 PM and 3:45 PM, and trips will leave the Savannah Mall at 2:45 PM and 4:45 PM.
Other proposed measures include adding time to the route, serving the Rose of Sharon on trips leaving the Transit Center on the hour (6 AM, 7 AM, etc.), serving Phillips-Winters on trips leaving the Savannah Mall at quarter to the hour (6:45 AM, 7:45 AM, etc.), and letting the bus stops on Abercorn serve Williams Court. These measures are designed to relieve the route from the unnecessary turns and detours in areas with extremely limited ridership while maintaining overall service levels and keeping the bus moving along a smooth, timely route.
