Chatham Area Transit officials announce that they will be observing “Try Transit Week” from October 26–30, 2015. Try Transit Week calls upon all citizens to join in a nationwide effort to promote the benefits of transit and encourage new riders to TRY TRANSIT! During the week that begins the same day as lower pass prices and service improvements, Chatham Area Transit will sponsor the following activities:
- Monday, October 26th – Active Military & Veterans Day. Active duty and retired servicemen/women will ride buses with military identification.
- Tuesday, October 27th – Senior/Disabled Citizens’ Appreciation Day. Citizens, 62 years and older, along with members of the disabled community, will ride the bus and be transported via paratransit free.
- Wednesday, October 28th – Passenger Appreciation Day. Fixed route passengers will be allowed to ride the bus fare free during this day.
- Thursday, October 29th – Government Employees’ Appreciation Day. All current government employees (local, state and federal) will be able to ride public transportation free on that day with their employee identification.
- Friday, October 30th – Students’ Appreciation Day. All school children, grades K–12, will be allowed to ride the bus free while they are in uniform. College students will ride free with a current and valid college identification card.
Also during Try Transit Week, let our representatives at the Transit Center and Oglethorpe Mall show you how to use the Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs). With change cards going away, TVMs provide convenient access to pass purchasing, any day, anytime. Learn more on our FAQ page.
