CAT to Celebrate 11th Annual Dump The Pump Day

Chatham Area Transit announces that it will join other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the eleventh annual National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 16, 2016.

Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), Dump the Pump Day is a national event that encourages people to choose public transportation over driving. Transit has been proven to save money and encourage a healthier, more active lifestyle. Dump the Pump Day shines a spotlight on the extensive benefits of public transportation, such as saving the average two-car household almost $9,000 per year by downsizing to one car* and improving access to job opportunities for millions of Americans.

A single commuter switching to public transportation can reduce a household’s carbon emissions by 10 percent*.
