Every Woman’s Marathon Temporary Reroutes & Detours – Saturday, November 16, 2024 

Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) will implement temporary fixed route detours and reroutes due to road closures surrounding Every Woman’s Marathon on Saturday, November 16.  These changes will affect transit riders traveling through the downtown Savannah area and may cause some delays. CAT advises all riders to plan their trips accordingly to avoid disruptions.

Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Transit Center: 

  • All fixed-route bus connections will be temporarily relocated from the Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Transit Center (ITC) to a new connecting point at MLK Jr. Blvd. & Anderson St. This change will remain in effect until the conclusion of the marathon.

3A/3B: 

Inbound – Regular route to 516 and I-16 East, Left onto 37th Street, Left to MLK, Left to Anderson Street.

Outbound – From Anderson, Left onto Ogeechee Rd., Right to I-16, Right to 516, Right to Augusta Ave Ramp, Left to regular route.

4 Barnard: 

Inbound – From regular route, Left onto 37th Street, Right to Right on Ogeechee, Right to Anderson Street.

Outbound – From Anderson, Right to MLK, Left to 37th Street, Right to Barnard and regular route.

10 East Savannah: 

Inbound – From regular route at Bonaventure and Skidway, Left onto Skidway Road, Right to Victory Drive, Right on Bee Rd., Left on 37th, Right on Burroughs

Outbound – From Burroughs Street, Right onto Anderson, Right to MLK, Left to Victory Drive, Left to Skidaway Road, Right to Pennsylvania Street and regular route.

12 Henry: 

Inbound – From regular route on 37th Street, Right onto MLK, Left to Anderson and regular route.

Outbound – From regular route on Anderson, Right onto MLK, Left to 37th Street and regular route.

14 Abercorn: 

Inbound – From regular route, Left onto 37th Street, Right on Burroughs Street, Right on Anderson Street.

Outbound – From Burroughs Street, Right onto Anderson, Right to MLK, Left to 37th Street, Right to Abercorn Street and regular route.

17 Silk Hope: 

Inbound – From regular route, continue on Ogeechee Road to turn Right onto Victory Drive, Left to MLK Blvd, and Left to Anderson Street.

Outbound –From Anderson Street, Left onto Burroughs Street, Left to 31st Street, Right to MLK, Right Victory, LEFT on Ogeechee Road and back on Regular Route.

25 Westlake: 

Inbound – Regular route to MLK, turn Left onto Anderson Street.

Outbound – From Anderson Street, Left onto Burroughs Street, Left to 31st Street, Right to MLK and regular route.

27/28 Waters: 

Inbound – From regular route turn Left on 37th St, Right on Ogeechee Rd, Right on Anderson

Outbound – From Anderson, Right onto MLK, Left on 37th Street, Right on Waters Avenue to regular route.

No Service North of 37th & Waters during Race

7001 Cloverdale Dot: 

Inbound – From Cloverdale, Right onto Stiles Avenue, and Left to Ogeechee Road, and Right to Victory Drive, Left to Burroughs Street, and Left to Anderson Street.

 Outbound – From Burroughs Street, Left onto Anderson Street, Left to Ogeechee Road, Left to Stiles Avenue, Left to McCarthy Street, Left to Allen Avenue, Right to Blun Street, Right to Collat Avenue, Right to Winburn Street, Right to Bowden Street, Left to Blun Street, Left to Allen Avenue, Right to McCarthy Street, Right to Stiles Avenue, Right for service to Cloverdale.

31 Skidway/Sandfly: 

Inbound – From Hodgson Memorial Drive run regular route to Beaumont, turn Right on Laroche, turn Right on Norwood, RIGHT on Skidway, Left on Eisenhower Rd,, Right on Waters, Left on 37th St, Right on Burroughs

Outbound – From Burroughs, Right onto Anderson Street, Right on MLK, Left onto 37th Street, Right on Waters, Left on Eisenhower, Right on Skidway, Right on Montgomery XRoads to Walmart, Exit Walmart,  Left on Montgomery XRoads and Right on Hodgson Memorial.

 No Services North of 37th St & Waters.  Skidway to DeRenne will also be closed during Race.  No Service at Anderson & Waters

DOT Shuttle: 
  • The DOT shuttle will not operate its usual routes during the marathon. Instead, it will serve as a transfer shuttle to connect riders with alternative routes. Normal DOT shuttle operations will resume once the marathon ends and roads closures open back up to the public.

Hurricane Milton Update #2 – Thursday, October 10

Chatham Area Transit (CAT) will resume normal operations on Friday, October 11.

 
CAT services include Fixed-Route services, Paratransit Mobility, CAT Connect, the Savannah Belles Ferry, and the DOT Shuttle.
 

All administrative offices, including the Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Transit Center, will also be open to the public.


Hurricane Milton Update #1 – Wednesday, October 9

 

In preparation for Hurricane Milton, CAT will suspend all services on Thursday, October 10, including Fixed-Route, Paratransit Mobility, CAT Connect, Savannah Belles Ferry, and the DOT Shuttle. Administrative offices, including the Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Transit Center, will also be closed.

Paratransit Mobility reservations can still be made by calling 912-233-5767 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or online at this link.

Hurricane Helene Update #8 – Tuesday, October 1


Chatham Area Transit (CAT) will resume services on Wednesday, October 2, with some minor reroutes.

This includes Fixed-Route, Paratransit Mobility, the Savannah Belles Ferry, and the DOT Shuttle.

In addition to returning to normal operations, all modes of transportation will be zero-fare through Friday, October 11.

All administrative offices will also be opened to the public.

Hurricane Helene Update #7 – Monday, September 30

Chatham Area Transit (CAT) will suspend services on Tuesday, October 1, in response to crew assessments from Helene. CAT services include Fixed-Route services, Paratransit Mobility, and the DOT Shuttle.

All administrative offices will also be closed.

The Savannah Belles Ferry will be in operation from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Chatham Area Transit (CAT) will suspend services on Monday, September 30, in response to crew assessments from Helene. CAT services include Fixed-Route services, Paratransit Mobility, and the DOT Shuttle.

All administrative offices will also be closed.

The Savannah Belles Ferry will be in operation from 7 a.m.  to 10 p.m., on Monday.

Any updates will be communicated through CAT’s text alert system, social media channels, and on the CAT website.

Hurricane Helene Update #4 – Saturday, September 28

CAT’s services will remain suspended on Saturday, September 28, except the Savannah Belles Ferry. The Savannah Belles Ferry will resume service tomorrow morning at 7 am.

Riders can still make Paratransit Mobility reservations by calling 912-233-5767 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., or by using CAT’s online reservation system at https://catchacat.org/getting-around/with-a-disability/new-cat-mobility-reservation-request-form/.

CAT crews will continue to assess routes and make a determination about services for Saturday, September 28, at a later time. Any updates will be communicated through CAT’s text alert system, social media channels, and on the CAT website.

Updates on Sunday’s service will be announced at a later time.

Hurricane Helene Update #3 – Friday, September 27

Chatham Area Transit (CAT) will suspend all services on Friday, September 27, in response to weather impacts from Helene. This suspension includes Fixed-Route services, Paratransit Mobility, Savannah Belles Ferry, DOT Shuttle, and CAT Connect.

In addition to service suspension, all CAT facilities will remain closed to the public.

Riders can still make Paratransit Mobility reservations by calling 912-233-5767 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., or by using CAT’s online reservation system at https://catchacat.org/getting-around/with-a-disability/new-cat-mobility-reservation-request-form/.

CAT crews will continue to assess routes and make a determination about services for Saturday, September 28, at a later time. Any updates will be communicated through CAT’s text alert system, social media channels, and on the CAT website.

Hurricane Helene Update #2 – Thursday, September 26

Chatham Area Transit (CAT) is actively working with CEMA and our partners to ensure the safety of our riders and staff in expectation of potential weather impacts.  

Please see below for the adjustment breakdown of our services:

Fixed-Route, DOT Shuttle: All services will be discontinued at 6 p.m.

  • In addition to all services ending at 6 p.m., the following routes will discontinue service at 2:30 pm.
    • 4 Barnard, 5 Port Wentworth, 11 Candler, and 12 Henry
  • The last bus to leave the Joe Murray Rivers Jr Intermodal Transit Center (ITC) is as follows:
    • 17 Silk Hope at 3:00 p.m.
    • 3B Augusta Ave, 10 East Savannah, 25 Westlake, 31 Skidaway at 3:30 p.m.
    • 3 West Chatham and 28 Waters at 4:00 p.m.
    • 14 Abercorn and 27 Waters at 4:30 p.m.

Paratransit Mobility: Service will be discontinued at 6 p.m.  

CAT Connect: Service will end at 12 p.m.

Savannah Belles Ferry: Service will be discontinued at 12 noon

Riders should expect delays and more service modifications pending weather impacts.

CAT Facilities:

  • Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Transit Center will close to the public at 5 p.m. today
  • CAT Central will close to the public at 12 p.m. today

All facilities, Fixed-Route, Paratransit Mobility, CAT Connect, and the Savannah Belles Ferry will resume normal operations at 10 a.m., Friday, September 27, pending weather conditions.

Hurricane Helene Update #1 – Wednesday, September 25

All CAT services and offices will operate as usual on Thursday, September 26.

Former President Donald Trump Rally Reroutes

September 24, 2004

As part of ongoing security measures during Former President Donald Trump’s visit to Savannah today, several road closures and bus reroutes will be in effect. These changes are necessary to ensure the safety of all travelers. Please see the current reroute information below, and check back regularly for updates as new information becomes available.

Current Service Alerts:

  • Traffic Delays:
    • 3:00pm DUE TO THE EXTREME CONJESTED TRAFFIC IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA, ALL THE BUSES WILL BE RUNNING BEHIND AT LEAST 20 MINUTES
    • As of 12:10 pm, there have been no changes to the reroutes for the affected routes. However, please be aware that there are traffic delays due to the motorcade route to the event.
    • The 5 Pt Wentworth, 3 W Chatham, and 3B Augusta routes are currently at a standstill on Hwy 21 due to police blockage.

31 Skidaway Route (Outbound):

  • From the Transit Center:
    • Left on Fahm St
    • Left on Oglethorpe St
    • Continue on Oglethorpe St to Price St
    • Right on Price St, back to the regular route.

DOT Downtown/EW/Cloverdale Route (Outbound):

  • From Eastern Wharf:
    • Liberty St to Drayton St
    • Right on Drayton St
    • Left on Oglethorpe Ave
    • Right on Fahm St
    • Right on Youmans St to the Transit Center.

4 Barnard Route (Outbound):

  • From the Transit Center:
    • Left on Fahm St
    • Left on Oglethorpe Ave
    • Right on Abercorn St
    • Right on Liberty St
    • Left on Whitaker St back to the regular route.

Forsyth DOT (Outbound):

  • From Bryan St and Bull service stop:
    • Left around the square back to Congress St
    • Right on Abercorn St
    • Right on Liberty St
    • Left on Whitaker St back to the regular route.

Important Updates:

  • As of now, Oglethorpe Ave and MLK Blvd remain open for inbound and outbound travel.
  • The only confirmed street closure at this time is Montgomery St. between Liberty and Oglethorpe Ave.
  • Expect delays and further reroutes as additional street closures may be enforced. Street supervisors are monitoring the situation and will provide real-time updates as needed.

Cloverdale Neighborhood Traffic Plan & CAT Reroute Information

September 12, 2024

As part of the Cloverdale Asphalt Art Project, there will be phased road closures affecting travel and Chatham Area Transit (CAT) routes in the Cloverdale neighborhood from September 12, 2024, to October 4, 2024 (tentative dates). We understand that these closures may impact bus schedules, pickup locations, and general travel in the area. Below is a detailed overview of the phased closures and the CAT reroute plan to ensure safe travel during this period.


Phase I: Full Closure (September 12, 2024)

  • Location: Intersection of Cloverdale Drive and Cynthia Street
  • Time: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Details: To accommodate the artist’s work on the Cloverdale Asphalt Art Project, there will be a full closure at this intersection to allow the artist to trace the project canvas. During this time, travel through this area will be completely restricted.
  • Impact on CAT Service: CAT buses will follow the reroute plan described below until 2:00 PM.

CAT Bus Reroute for the Cloverdale Asphalt Art Project

During the closures on September 12, 2024, CAT buses will follow the reroute below to maintain safe and efficient service in the area:

Reroute Plan:

  1. From Audubon Dr
  2. Right on Cloverdale Dr
  3. Right on Delano St
  4. Right on Eleanor St
  5. Right on Cynthia St
  6. Left on Audubon Dr
  7. Right on Eleanor St
  8. Left on Cloverdale Dr

This route has been selected to minimize disruptions and ensure the safest passage through the neighborhood, taking into consideration local parking and road conditions.

Phase II: Partial Road Closure (September 12, 2024, After 2:00 PM)

  • Location: Cloverdale Drive and surrounding streets
  • Time: After 2:00 PM
  • Details: Following the full closure, traffic will partially resume in the neighborhood. Cloverdale Drive will be reopened to limited traffic, and the CAT operator will be able to travel on the regular route.
  • Impact on CAT Service: Service will be restored to a modified version of the regular route.

Phase III: Intermittent Closures (September 13 – October 4, 2024)

  • Location: Various streets in the Cloverdale neighborhood
  • Details: As the project progresses, there will be intermittent closures throughout the neighborhood. These will affect different sections of Cloverdale Drive, Cynthia Street, and adjacent streets at various times.
  • Impact on CAT Service: Riders should anticipate changes to bus schedules and pickup locations. We recommend checking our website and social media for real-time updates on affected services.
