Upcoming Projects

CAT is launching Phase 1 of its Bus Stop Improvement Program to enhance safety, accessibility, and the rider experience at priority bus stops. Improvements will be made at selected locations based on need and available funding.
Bus Stop Improvement
CAT is upgrading its fare collection system to provide a more convenient, reliable, and user-friendly payment experience for fixed-route & paratransit riders. The improvements will support modern payment options and enhance the overall transit experience.
Farebox Collection Improvement
CAT is renovating the Joe Murray Rivers, Jr. Intermodal Transit Center to improve customer service and public spaces. Planned improvements include relocating the call center to a new area within the facility and converting the former call center into a new boardroom for CAT public meetings.
Terminal (ITC) Renovations

Master Transit Plan

CAT has developed a Master Transit Plan to guide the future of public transportation in Chatham County. The plan will identify long-term priorities to improve service, expand mobility, and meet the community’s evolving transportation needs.

Service Changes

Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) has implemented summer service changes designed to improve reliability and better serve our riders. These updates include schedule adjustments on select routes to enhance on-time performance and overall service efficiency. Riders are encouraged to review the updated schedules before traveling before implementation on Monday, August 31, 2026.

Community Engagement & Surveys

DOT Shuttle Survey

CAT wants to hear from riders who use the DOT Shuttle! Your feedback helps us better understand your experience and identify opportunities to improve service. This survey focuses on your overall experience, including customer service, reliability, accessibility, and areas where CAT can enhance the DOT Shuttle program to better meet the needs of our community. Your input is valuable and will help guide future service improvements.

Paratransit Survey

CAT is conducting a Paratransit Survey to gather feedback from eligible riders on service quality, accessibility, and overall experience. The input collected will help guide improvements to better meet the needs of the community.
