All of Chatham Area Transit’s services have resumed operation after being suspended last week due to Hurricane Dorian.
Most services, including CAT’s fixed-route buses customer service line, and the JMR Intermodal Transit Center, resumed operations on Friday.
Regular bus service had been suspended Tuesday, when CAT operators transported residents and visitors without private transportation to the Savannah Civic Center to assist in the mandatory evacuation of Chatham County. CAT’s buses were also used to transport residents and visitors when they were returned to the Civic Center after being evacuated to inland shelters.
CAT’s paratransit service, CAT Mobility, resumed operations on Saturday after assisting in the evacuation of residents with medical needs on Monday and the re-entry of those residents on Friday.
The Savannah Belles Ferry system also resumed operations Friday after an assessment determined the boats and docks were undamaged by the storm.
