11/15/2024 – Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) will implement temporary fixed route detours and reroutes due to road closures surrounding Every Woman’s Marathon on Saturday, November 16. These changes will affect transit riders traveling through the downtown Savannah area and may cause some delays. CAT advises all riders to plan their trips accordingly to avoid disruptions.
Key Service Changes Include:
- Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Transit Center:
- All fixed-route bus connections will be temporarily relocated from the Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Transit Center (ITC) to a new connecting point at MLK Jr. Blvd. & Anderson St. This change will remain in effect until the conclusion of the marathon.
- Service Area Suspensions:
- There will be no service north of 37th Street & Waters until the marathon ends
- There will be no service from Skidaway to Derenne until the marathon ends
- There will be no service from Anderson & Waters until the marathon ends
- DOT Shuttle:
- The DOT shuttle will not operate its usual routes during the marathon. Instead, it will serve as a transfer shuttle to connect riders with alternative routes. Normal DOT shuttle operations will resume once the marathon ends and road closures open back up to the public. Â
