Chatham Area Transit acknowledges community concerns and questions regarding Fixed-Route reliability issues. Recently, we have seen an alarming decrease in service reliability, including late buses and inconsistent customer response.
This is a result of operator shortages, seen by many transit systems across the country, as well as the implementation of safety related limitations on driver hours.
We understand and acknowledge your frustration and overall disappointment in how the agency is providing quality service to you, our passengers.
CAT is aggressively hiring to fill all bus operator positions by partnering with the Georgia Department of Labor, and through customized recruiting approaches. Since the start of these partnerships, we have already seen significant progress with new applications, screenings, and interviews.
We are also considering temporary service changes to better match service to our existing operator staffing levels.
Chatham Area Transit sincerely apologizes for all and any inconvenience this is causing as you depend on the agency to get you where you need to go. Current staff and employees are diligently working to use all available resources to bring trustworthy and reliable service back to Chatham County and surrounding areas.
