10/3/2024 – Chatham Area Transit’s (CAT) Board of Directors has recently approved the expansion of transportation services for Pinewood Village and Stillwell Towers.
CAT Connect, a pilot program that offers zero-fare rides to seniors, ensures that they have access to essential destinations.
Residents of Pinewood Village in Pooler can now enjoy convenient transportation to key shopping destinations every Thursday, including the Kroger at Berwick Marketplace, Aldi, and Publix on Pooler Parkway.
Starting Monday, October 7, Stillwell Towers residents will also benefit from new transit options, with scheduled trips to Walmart on Montgomery Crossroad.
“CAT is always on the move, especially in support of our senior community,” said Board Chairman Deidrick Cody. “This initiative reaffirms our unwavering commitment to enhancing mobility and improving the quality of life for all our riders.”
Launched in February 2024, the CAT Connect pilot program has already made a significant impact by providing over 7,600 rides to seniors, making sure they remain connected to vital services. CAT Connect is funded through the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Transit Trust Fund.
