5/10/2024 – An all-new Transit Maintenance Facility is coming to Savannah, and we want you to
know all about it! The Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) is currently evaluating
sites across Chatham County for a new Paratransit and Microtransit Maintenance and
Mobility Center. We are ready to share our findings and gather your feedback!
Mark your calendars for an informational and public input session on Monday, May
13th from 5 PM – 8 PM at the Adams Complex at the City of Savannah Administration
Building on 20 Interchange Drive, Savannah, GA 31415. The Project Team, including
officials from CAT, will be there to share information including Electronic Vehicle (EV)
fleet technology, paratransit and microtransit operations, the site selection and Title
VI processes, as well as the project timeline and future involvement opportunities.
We look forward to seeing you there and are eager to answer any questions you may
have!
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Paratransit offers full-service transit options for disabled customers, while microtransit
uses app-based technology to provide on-demand shared-ride transit service with
flexible routing and scheduling. Once complete, the new paratransit and microtransit
maintenance facility will allow CAT to better serve the community by adding more
space and technology and servicing a fleet of 42 fully electric vehicles, resulting in
improved paratransit and microtransit operations.
Three sites are under consideration for the facility, including property on Fort Argyle
Road, Interchange Drive, and East Gwinnett Street (existing CAT facility). After
selection of the site, the project team will begin facility programming and
architectural design efforts.
