Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) will operate on a holiday schedule on Monday for Memorial Day. The holiday schedule is included on each of the printed route schedules. Schedule information is also available online at catchacat.org or by calling (912) 233-5767.
CAT’s administrative offices will be closed for business, but the ticket window, located at the Joe Murray Rivers, Jr. Intermodal Transit Center, will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The transit center is located at 610 W. Oglethorpe Ave.
The Savannah Belles Ferry will operate on a regular schedule from 7 a.m. to midnight.
For travelers, CAT offers a low-cost alternative to driving or taking a rideshare service to the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.
The 100X Airport Express provides transportation to and from the airport for only $5 one-way or $8 roundtrip.
Savannah resident Barry Helmey, who has been a CAT rider for about 16 years, takes the shuttle to the airport on a regular basis, but not just to fly. On Thursday morning Helmey took the shuttle to see a local musician perform there.
“I’m a wheelchair user and it is one of the only accessible things to do,” he said. “And they have concert series out at the airport, they have other things to engage the public now out there.”
To catch the shuttle from downtown, individuals may board at the Fahm Street end of the transit center.
Regular route schedules will resume on Tuesday.
